Retail Degree Apprenticeship

Our Retail Degree Apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with the University of Bradford and Sheffield Hallam University, allows you to work towards a degree while preparing for a brilliant management career within our unique food retail business. Not only do we pay all your course fees for you, but you also get to work and earn a salary while you’re studying – so money is never a concern.

Unlike our competitors, we own most of our own supply chain. As food makers and shopkeepers, we make our success together. This unique business model means we can offer our Retail Degree Apprentices the broader responsibilities and opportunities they are looking for.
Over the course of three years, you’ll gain the skills, knowledge and experience you need to be a senior manager in one of our stores. You’ll learn about our store trading operations and systems. You’ll work on exciting live business projects. Plus you’ll get an early taste of leadership when you take on responsibility for a team. Above all, you’ll be working hard to provide customers with a great shopping experience and to keep your store running smoothly.
Achieve a valuable degree
While you’re working with us, you’ll also be studying towards a Bsc (Hons) Management and Business. Balancing work and a degree course will be challenging. But we provide generous study leave throughout the programme. And, in return for your hard work and determination, you’ll gain full chartered membership of the CMI. What’s more, you’ll have the experience you need to step into a shift manager role at the end of the programme.
What you’ll need to join us
Retail management is not for everyone. It involves early starts, late finishes and working some weekends and bank holidays. That’s why we look for resilience, determination and flexibility, as well as good leadership skills. You’ll also need a minimum of 104 UCAS points (based on the new UCAS tariff or 260 based on the old tariffs).
