We often describe Capgemini as “one of the world's foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services”. What this means is that we help companies and public sector organisations improve their businesses through smart, appropriate use of technology systems.
We can advise our clients on how to do this (the “consulting” part of our description), and if required implement and improve the actual systems (the “technology” part). We can also manage and run clients’ IT systems on their behalf (the “outsourcing” part). We always look for ways to improve their experience and save them money, for example by putting some of their systems “in the cloud” or collaborating with colleagues in other countries such as India and Poland.

Training & Profiles
With A-levels or equivalents, you’ll be on our five year Higher Apprentice Programme. You’ll become part of the Capgemini business, working on real client projects (with plenty of support and guidance) from the moment you start.
One of the really special things about this programme is that we sponsor you to complete a BSc (Hons) degree in Computing and IT Practice. So you can get a degree without student debt, along with valuable work experience and a permanent job.
If you join after GCSE’s you’ll be on our 18-month Advanced Apprentice Programme. You’ll get a wide range of opportunities in IT and project management, working on live projects for our clients and experiencing a variety of technology.
All the experience and training we offer will give you a solid background in IT plus industry-recognised qualifications. You’ll also have a permanent job with a competitive salary from the day you start your apprenticeship.
On both programmes you begin your role with the Accelerated Learning Programme, an intensive training course which involves a residential element that will allow you to come away from your day job and focus on your training.
For our apprenticeship programme, the application stages are: Apply, Interview, Assessment Centre, Offer. The phone interview mainly consists of competency questions along with a short conversation about your knowledge of IT. The assessment centre consists of an interview, a group exercise and a short IT aptitude test.

It’s important to note that, wherever you’re based, you will be on a mobile contract. You will be expected to travel to, and work on, client sites throughout the UK each week. Naturally, we pay your travel expenses when you’re working away from home. Apprentices tell us getting to travel around like this is a lot of fun.
Higher Apprentice entry requirements
- A minimum of seven GCSEs at grades A*-C, or equivalent, including Maths and English.
- Three A-levels (actual or expected) at grade C or above, or equivalent (e.g. a National BTEC with at least one distinction). These should include an IT-related subject (e.g. IT, Maths or Science).
- As an alternative to A-levels you may have completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in IT.
Advanced Apprentice Entry Requirements
- Seven GCSEs at grades A*-C, or equivalent, including maths and English.
- We prefer those with higher grades in STEM subjects (maths, science and ICT) and English. These results may be actual or expected at the time that you apply.
