How to progress in your job #3: Find new challengesBlogs
So you've found your perfect new role (hopefully through future-talent.com) and as your employment continues you've found yourself settled in it and thinking "what can I do next?"
Instead of jumping online and searching for something new, firstly think how you can adapt your current role to fulfil your need to find new challenges. Companies are always keen to reduce turnover and so more often than not your boss will be keen to help you. Ask them if you can take on new responsibilities and even, if it's something you think you'll enjoy, ask if you can shadow them at times to understand their role in more detail. If temporary projects appear make sure offering your services. Not only will you get the chance to expand your skillset, you'll also impress you superiors in the office with your eagerness.
It's important that your employer knows that you want new challenges for two reasons. Firstly, they'll be more capable of finding new opportunities for you and secondly it will be clear that you're interested in staying with the company in order to progress instead of jumping ship.
You can also ask your colleagues if there are any opportunities to swap some of your responsibilities for a short time. But make sure whenever you're adding new challenges to your role that you aren't over loading yourself and that your employer is aware you're doing it.
