How to progress in your job #2: Take stock of everythingBlogs
Before you start looking for progression you need to take stock of your current situation and be sure that you're ready to kick on.
Here's a few things you should consider:
There are times when it doesn't matter what you do in your job, you're still not content. Often it's at times like these when someone will turn to job searching. Before you do check that it is your job you're unhappy with. Your personal life can and will heavily influence your working life, so make sure you have a healthy work-life balance. There's nothing worse than forcing through change only to find that the grass isn't greener on the other side because of issues totally unrelated to work.
Make sure that you know your own strengths and weaknesses. In our next blog we'll discuss finding new challenges, but knowing what skills you have and what you are lacking will help you finding suitable chances to extend your skill set.
When it comes to discussing progression in the future you need to be sure that you know your own role inside and out. Are you missing opportunities? Are you fulfilling targets as well as you could? You might think your employer is holding you back but is it down to them or you?
