Job Description

We have a great opportunity for an apprentice joiner/furniture maker to join a Norwich based business specialising in hand making bespoke kitchen and bedroom cabinetry and furniture.


We have a great opportunity for someone with a keen interest in joinery and woodworking to join a small, friendly team that provides carpentry and joinery services across the Norwich area. The team hand crafts high quality bespoke cabinets, doors, bookcases and other household furniture from scratch in their workshop using both hand and power tools, before installing the finished products in customer’s homes and businesses.

The successful candidate will work within a small team of highly skilled Joiners and will be involved with:

  • Creation from scratch of doors, units, bespoke kitchen and bathroom cabinets, worktops, bookcases and wardrobes in a workshop setting
  • Installation of created products on site
  • Installation of skirting boards
  • Installation of solid wood, vinyl, laminate and tiled flooring
  • Assisting customers with design of layout, look and finish of items
  • Project management of customer’s projects
  • Working with other trade people on site
  • Renovation work
  • Using traditional hand tools and the maintenance of them
  • Using power tools and the maintenance of them
  • Carrying out work to a high standard

Future Prospects

  • A full time role will be offered on completion of this apprenticeship

Training and Apprenticeships in Construction Limited is acting as an Apprentice Training Agency (ATA) and will engage you for the duration of the Apprenticeship and pay your salary. You should be aware that the company/business named in this vacancy is a host employer and you will not be employed by them. Your placement may change during the course of your Apprenticeship.

Succesful applicants will need to pass a CSCS test prior to starting their employment. 

Skills Required

  • The ideal candidate will not need previous qualifications in Carpentry or Furniture Manufacturing, but a keen interest in woodworking is required
  • Due to the location of the business, a driving license and own car is preferable, but not essential

Qualifications Required

  • Maths GCSE grade D / level 3 or equivalent
  • English GCSE grade D / level 3 or equivalent

Training Provided

  • The successful apprentice will be working towards a Level 2 Furniture Manufacturing Qualification
  • Training will be delivered by MT training
  • Functional skills if needed
