Responsibilities
Launched in 2010 we have seen extensive growth through 2020 and will continue this with this new role.
As an business, we specialise in not just building websites that work, but ensuring they are well optimised, performant and secure. When we create a website we take on the “technical” role for our clients to ensure that they have the right tools to enable their business to flourish.
Whilst being responsible for improvements on clients sites, the role will also involve web hosting technical support, and additionally improvements and maintenance of our internal websites / systems.
The vacancy is for an Web Developer Apprentice. The successful applicant will be trained to produce and maintain software written in PHP / WordPress / Laravel. This will include writing and enhancing existing solutions, as well as helping to architect new developments.
You will also be placed on a Level 4 Software Developer apprenticeship. You will be required to attend training with Creative alliance throughout the 18 months of the course.
Future Prospects
There will be the possibility of a full time post as a Web Developer upon completion of the Apprenticeship. Encode are committed to your development. You will receive training on all key elements of your role, and 10% of your time at work will be allocated to further training which will be agreed between you and the Director to ensure you progress.
Skills Required
The role of Software Engineer requires a wide variety of skills. The candidate must be able to apply logical thinking to a wide variety of challenges and be able to methodically work towards a solution.
These are some of the basic skills we are looking for:
- Attention to detail
- Proactive and positive with a can-do attitude
- Computer-literate with a knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP & MySQL, A knowledge of WordPress would be a bonus.
- Effective communication skills
- Understand written and verbal briefs
- Ability to apply logical thinking to problem solving
- Keen to learn and expand on knowledge though adaptive learning.
Qualities Required
An enquiring mind with an interest in technology is essential. This could be in software or computer hardware for example, or a related discipline such as electronics. A desire to learn and find out how things work would be ideal.
Qualifications Required
Applicants should be literate and numerate. Grade C/4 and above in English maths and IT are preferable
