Candidate’s daily duties will involve: 

  • Marking out & measuring using basic hand tools 
  • Bumper to bumper overview, service and inspection 
  • Body materials & construction 
  • Engine mechanical 
  • Cooling and lubrication, air & exhaust 
  • Ignition petrol fuel, CI fuels 
  • Braking systems, suspension, steering, wheels and tyres 
  • Charging and starter, electrical auxiliaries, lighting 
  • Clutches, manual/auto gearboxes, drivelines

Future Prospects

Potential to secure a full time permanent position at the end of the Apprenticeship.

Qualifications Required

You will need 3 GCSEs or equivalent at 9-4/A-C, especially maths, English, ICT or equivalent.

Training Provided

Over the 36 – 40 month programme you will work towards a Level 3 Apprentice Standard in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician and receive the following:

  • At work training supported with coaching, mentoring and assessment
  • Instructor led training at Volvo’s Training & Development Centre at Daventry
  • Online learning modules (+ other elective sessions if you wish)
  • Webinar based modules
  • Assignments and workbooks: completed by self-study/in dealer study
  • On the job competence assessment with assigned mentors
  • End point assessment at Volvo to achieve the apprenticeship standard
