Responsibilities
Candidate’s daily duties will involve:
- Marking out & measuring using basic hand tools
- Bumper to bumper overview, service and inspection
- Body materials & construction
- Engine mechanical
- Cooling and lubrication, air & exhaust
- Ignition petrol fuel, CI fuels
- Braking systems, suspension, steering, wheels and tyres
- Charging and starter, electrical auxiliaries, lighting
- Clutches, manual/auto gearboxes, drivelines
Future Prospects
Potential to secure a full- time permanent position at the end of the Apprenticeship.

Qualifications Required
You will need 3 GCSEs at grades 9-4/A-C, or equivalent qualifications, especially maths, English and ICT.
Training Provided
Over the 36 – 40 month programme you will work towards a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Apprentice Standard and receive the following:
- At work training supported with coaching, mentoring and assessment
- Instructor led training at Volvo’s Training & Development Centre at Daventry
- Online learning modules (+ other elective sessions if you wish)
- Webinar based modules
- Assignments and workbooks: completed by self-study/in dealer study
- On the job competence assessment with assigned mentors
- End point assessment at Volvo to achieve the apprenticeship standard
