What will the apprentice be doing?
Vauxhall is a prestigious employer who has major manufacturing facilities in Luton (commercial vehicles, IBC Vehicles) and Ellesmere Port, UK (passenger cars). The Luton plant employs around 900 staff and has a capacity for building around 100,000 units a year. Vauxhall even sells high-performance versions of some of its models under the GSi sub-brand. Starting in September 2022, this is a four year advanced apprenticeship. As an Engineering Technician Apprentice you will ensure that equipment is maintained to a standard necessary for the production of high value manufactured products. Typically the work covers a broad range of activities include installation, testing, fault finding and the on-going maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviors across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Vauxhall's Engineering Technician Apprentices currently start on a salary of around £14,312 per annum, rising every year until qualifying on to a salary of around £31,000 if you secure a permanent position. Successful completion of the Apprenticeship could lead to full time employment at Vauxhall Motors as a qualified Maintenance Technician.Reality Check
During the first year of your apprenticeship, you will be based full time at Bedford College 5 days a week. From year 2 you will be working 4 days a week at work and 1 day a week at college. From year 3 you will move on to the plants shift pattern which currently consists of 2 weeks working 6:00am - 1:45pm and 2 weeks of working 1:45pm - 9:30pm.Skills Required
