Job Description

Responsibilities

Reporting into the Implementation Manager and working closely with the Workshop Supervisor, this position provides internal support for specialised software applications and hardware.

As a team member you will provide timely and efficient assistance to the workshop and staging teams, assisting in hardware repairs, ensuring the Field Service Team have sufficient stock of equipment and aiding in the preparation and configuration of end user hardware and software for new orders within our implementation room. You will be expected to apply prioritisation to the workload, whilst adhering to quality standards to maximise customer satisfaction.

Job responsibilities:

  • Build and configure our software environment to the customers agreed specification
  • Preparation and staging of Hardware to exacting customer specification. Also completing a test validation to ensure the smooth running upon installation
  • Remote software installation and upgrades, installing and configuring our software and 3rd Party software on client’s Hardware
  • Maintain and update our hardware images in accordance with our quality standards
  • Organise the shipping of equipment to our clients and Field Service Team
  • Maintain an up-to-date equipment log on the CRM system
  • Liaise with the Implementation Manager to ensure there is stock to complete upcoming builds
  • Assist the Implementation team with remote upgrades and installations where required
  • Assist in ensuring equipment is made available when required for the Field Service Engineers, Implementation Team and Internal Sales
  • Assist in Workshop repairs and RMAs
  • Working with the Field Service Manager to schedule and prepare maintenance ‘call outs’ where required
  • To encourage feedback on services provided and recognise the changing needs of the service, and make recommendations to your line manager for service improvements
  • Contribute as required to relevant weekly/monthly reports on all activities

Reality Check

As the apprenticeship progresses, travel to customer sites and other locations across the UK, including remote locations and sometimes with the need to transport kit/equipment, will be a requirement, therefore a valid driving licence would be beneficial.

Skills Required

  • An eagerness to start and develop a career in an IT Professional Services and Support role
  • Any experience in an IT or Software Support role would be an advantage, but not essential
  • Any experience dealing with PC Hardware, Software Application Configuration and IP Networking would be an advantage
  • An awareness of SQL applications
  • Confidence in face-to-face or telephone-based customer service
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point
  • Good technical understanding of the basic IT systems
  • As the apprenticeship progresses, travel to customer sites and other locations across the UK, including remote locations and sometimes with the need to transport kit/equipment, will be a requirement, therefore a valid driving licence would be beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong hardware fault finding and repairing skills

Qualifications Required

Minimum of 4 X GCSEs grade A-C/8-4 including English and maths (or the equivalent). 

Training Provided

Infrastructure Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Qualification together with onsite training by the employer.
  • For those starting at Advanced (Level 3), the expected duration would be eighteen months. There is an opportunity to progress on to the Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4) and ultimately on to a Degree Apprenticeship
