26.0 hours per week 2pm to 6pm Monday to Friday with 6 hours study time designated across the week. The day will include leading sessions, supporting teachers and coaches in the delivery of PE and after school sport clubs.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an apprenticeship for a teaching assistant with a focus on sport and working with our experienced team to not only develop the provision and offer for our children but to develop their own skills and interests working with children. and alongside other coaches from West Lancashire Sport Partnership.


What will the apprentice be doing?

The apprentice will work under the direction of teachers, to support the physical education, personal and social development of pupils and establishing positive relationships. Duties include assisting during PE lessons and in the classroom and leading extra-Curricular activities including sports competitions. They will support sports leaders', assist in pupil supervision and organise sporting equipment and support in monitoring, recording and reporting of pupil progress and developmental needs.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As part of this role the successful candidate will be expected to work towards and complete the apprenticeship standard, Teaching Assistant Level 3 with a PE focus to it. The apprentice will be supported with induction and internal on–the–job training. The successful candidate will also be required to complete functional skills initial assessments in Maths, English and ICT. Maths, English and ICT functional skills must be completed as part of the apprenticeship, if GCSE C/4.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

To be highly skilled and effective in leading small groups and supporting whole class PE and school sport.  They will be highly employable or ready to move to the next stages of training (our previous Sport Apprentice is going to Universty in September).  We will support them with job applications or further training applications and
