What will the apprentice be doing?
Apprentices will be working in class supporting the children either in groups or one to one, depending on need, as they work through the Early Years or National Curriculum. Children at school range from 4-11 years. You would support the teacher in planning and presenting lessons whilst ensuring that all the children are supported in their activities.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
At the end of the apprenticeship, you will be a qualified teaching assistant with a Level 3 NVQ. Release to college including 20% off the job training is included as necesssary although you will be mainly school-based for the entire apprenticeship.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On qualilfication, we have historically employed most of our apprentices (based on school need and funding). From then, you could continue on with your training to be become a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, eventually qualifying, following further training, as a teacher, if you so desired. If possible, the school would help you with this career progression.
