Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems, Test and Support Engineer Apprentice to join the Systems Integration, Test and Support (SIT&S) team within Thales Underwater Systems business. The team provides through-life engineering support to the many Thales Sonar Systems deployed by both the Royal Navy and export customers across the world.


What will the apprentice be doing?

This Systems, Test and Support Engineer Apprenticeship provide an opportunity to apply off-the-job technical training with on-the-job practical experience working with Thales Sonar Systems and our key customers, including the Royal Navy.

This Apprenticeship will help you to develop your knowledge of Sonar Systems and present you with the opportunity to assist the Systems Integration, Test and Support team in maintaining and developing our important relationships with our customers.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As a Systems Test and Support Engineer Apprentice you will be working towards a level three qualification in engineering technician. For the duration of this three – four year programme you will be given one day per week in which to complete your studies with a local college. For the other four days you will be working in the business, applying your learning and gaining a breadth of experience across the industry.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

At the end of the programme you will move into a permanent role within the engineering function.
