Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic apprentice to join our team, to assist in the provision of support and care for adults with learning disabilities. This is a hands-on role, where no two days are the same, whether taking clients shopping, going for a walk in the village, or having a movie or crafts afternoon.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To provide a caring, supportive and personalised service to our service users
  • Contributing to devising care plans based on tailored requirements for an individual
  • Perform care duties in line with the care plan, to provide the appropriate level of support for individuals to lead fulfilling lives
  • To respect the service user’s dignity, privacy and independence as far as is practical
  • To encourage service users to achieve goals and do the things they like & want to do
  • Supporting service users to achieve and maintain what is important to them
  • Listening and talking to the individual service users, their families, friends and other professionals
  • To support service users with personal care to include getting up in the morning/going to bed, dressing/undressing, washing/bathing & using the toilet facilities as appropriate
  • Help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including incontinence, and help with use and care of aids & personal equipment
  • Cleaning & tidying of rooms
  • Assisting with domestic tasks such as cooking cleaning, washing & shopping
  • Reporting of all incidents & accidents
  • Attendance of training meetings & apprenticeship training visits conducted by a GP Strategies qualified Skills Coach
  • Engagement with training materials and coursework provided
  • Working within the requirements of the law and best practice whilst upholding Bowden Derra code of conduct guidelines at all times

Future Prospects

  • If employed on to a level 2 qualification, following successful completion & good work performance, progression to level 3 will be provided. If employed on to a level 3 qualification, level 5 care qualifications will be offered, provided the same criteria is met

Qualifications Required

  • No academic qualifications necessary
  • Due to the rural location of this employer, a current driving licence and own transport would be advantageous
