Responsibilities
What will the apprentice be doing?
The role will involve learning the tasks involved in a busy timber warehouse as follows:-
· Picking Timber and Wood Sheet Materials and other products in our range such as edging and laminates.
· Measuring Timber for orders.
· Being able to identify different products and selecting accordingly.
· Loading Lorries ready for deliveries.
· Unloading goods in and checking correct goods received.
· Learning about Chain of custody in respect of FSC and PEFC Certified materials.
· Assisting in the transport office.
· Learning how to operate our computer system Bistrack.
· Potential to undertake a Combi Forklift truck course if we feel the apprentice is suitable. This would be paid for by the company.
· General housekeeping, tidying.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Qualification/s to be obtained: Supply Chain Operator Level 2
Delivery method: The training will be delivered by Business Plus at Fareham College, an Ofsted Outstanding College. Your training will be delivered at your place of work and virtually. The schedule of this training is to be confirmed.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Possibility of a permanent role upon completion of apprenticeship for the right person
Reality Check
The applicant needs to familiarise themselves with our location and ensure they have a method of getting to work. Some work will be outside in the yard and there will be some lifting (manual handling) involved. Protective clothing (PPE) will be provided for this role. Health and Safety is of paramount importance in this environment with fork lift trucks operating in the warehouse and yard and also lorries manoeuvring. Health and Safety training that is relevant to this role would be provided and undertaken on site.Skills Required
