Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

As an Apprentice Warehouse Operative, you will report to the Clopton Site Manager and work as part of a busy team of warehouse operatives to achieve excellent quality and efficiency to meet agreed service levels. Your role as Apprentice Warehouse Operative will be varied and you will benefit from learning new skills within the logistics industry which will help you to develop into a competent operative on completion of your apprenticeship. To achieve in this role, no prior experience is necessary. A hardworking and ambitious attitude with a strive for delivering a high quality service is all you need to get started and achieve in this role.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow Health & Safety Policy & Company Procedures at all times, awareness of the reporting relevant concerns to your line manager or Health and Safety Officer
  • Assisting with the physical & administrative receipt of goods inwards
  • Learning to use the RDT devices to work in line with our Warehouse Management System
  • Assisting with locating of goods into warehouse
  • Learning to use counterbalance, pump truck or manual handling techniques
  • Working with team to learn how to pick products by either pallet or carton via forklift or manually
  • Assisting with checking picked orders against instructions
  • Learning the labelling procedure and carrying out labelling of product for despatch
  • Understanding and carrying out replenishment of picking locations
  • Assistance with cycle counting & stock checks
  • Learning to load goods onto delivery vehicles on pallets via forklift or as cartons manually
  • Ensure all warehouses & yard areas are kept clean & tidy
  • Flexibility to move between existing third-party contracts to cover peak times

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Supply chain warehouse operative level 2.

Warehouse Operatives work in a variety of warehouse environments, undertaking tasks such as taking deliveries, checking for damaged/missing items, storing goods, moving stock, maintaining stock levels and recording. They are also required to safely use a range of equipment and machinery relevant to their role and setting. The apprentice will complete an End point Assessment to demonstrate that they can perform knowledge, skills and behaviours in their occupation.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On successful completion of apprenticeship the role and salary will be reviewed in line with a competent warehouse operative. Opportunity to progress within the company as new skills and knowledge are acquired
