What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprentice will be working in Extra Care Housing which is sheltered housing to enable people to live independently in the community, the apprentice will be providing care and support to these clients and will be supervised by a mentor who will be responsible for the care and support of the apprentice, the tasks undertaken by the apprentice will include , cleaning , cooking , medication , put to beds and taking part in events such as days out.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The apprentice will attend a four-day induction at Richmond Training Academy where they will gain a qualification in Stroke Awareness and start the Care Certificate, they will gain the Adult care Worker Standard and a Diploma in Adult Care.
The apprentices will be released for Class Based or Zoom Classroom Training 1 day a week throughout the apprenticeship, this will take place at the apprentice’s place of work in the training room or at Richmond Training Academy Ltd
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will have the option of progressing to Level 3 Adult Care Worker. Starcare invest in tour staff and have a clear progression route from carer to senior to co-ordinator to registered manager for the right individual.
