Responsibilities
A typical day
- Data Warehouse Development
- Designing, building, monitoring & debugging PostgreSQL relations that serve our analytics needs
- Diagnosing (i.e. using planner/optimiser) and implementing (e.g. refactoring and/or materialisation of) optimisations to improve data warehouse performance
- Database Administration
- Being a database administrator for our PostgreSQL (Amazon RDS) data warehouse, managing users, permissions etc
- Monitoring data warehouse performance and optimising configurations to avoid issues and maximise efficiency
Future Prospects
After your Data Fellowship Apprenticeship, you can progress into any Junior Data Analyst, Data Scientist and Data engineer role. You'll have the skills to run insight analytical projects from beginning to end and work within a Data Analytics team.
Skills Required
Required:
- Experience of building and optimising SQL views
- Demonstrable problem solving, logical reasoning and numeracy skills
- Proven hunger for learning new skills & methods
- Meticulous attention to detail

Desirable, but not required:
- Experience working with an online codebase repository (e.g. GitHub)
- Experience working with cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
- Experience with scripting/coding (e.g. PHP, Python)

Qualifications Required
- GCSE English & Maths 4-9 (C-A*) or equivalent
- Level 3 qualification (A level, BTEC or equivalent)
Training Provided
Data Analyst Level 4.
