Job Description

As a Software Developer Apprentice at Expedia Group, you will work within an agile environment to develop next-generation technologies, working on scalable solutions at all phases of the software development lifecycle for more than 140 branded travel sites.

Responsibilities

Actively participate with your team in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, functional and technical design, development, testing and roll-out and support.

Duties will include:

  • Develop skills to drive technical implementation at the application/product level for small projects
  • Find improvements to solutions for a given problem
  • Resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur with help from peers or managers. Follow through on details and drive issues to closure with help from peers or managers.
  • Collaborate with and learn from all members and levels of technical staff

Future Prospects

After your Software Engineering apprenticeship, you can progress into a junior developer role (this includes web and app development). You'll have the skills to continue growing within a tech team and have enough knowledge/experience to pick up new languages with ease. Software Engineering Level 4 will also provide a good foundation for transitioning into data science.

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE English & maths 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent
  • Level 3 qualification (A level, BTEC or equivalent)
  • Three months' prior coding experience

Training Provided

  • Training on the 18 month standard Level 4 Software Developer (SWE4) apprenticeship
