Job Description

You can help drive TransferWise's growth! We're looking for a Software Developer Apprentice to join our cross functional team of software developers, search engine optimisation experts, designers and product managers. With our support you will contribute to all layers of the tech stack and help manage the full life cycle of our products.

  • Sync up with the team in daily standups: what are you working on now, what's next and how can the team help?
  • Learn the technologies used by the team in order to become a confident contributor
  • Work side by side with other developers to learn from them and get a better understanding of our products
  • Improve the quality of our code bases by making use of static analysis tools to identify bugs, code smells and vulnerabilities
  • Investigate the root cause of bugs, work to resolve the issue at hand, create test suites to prevent similar issues
  • Maintain the health of our projects by keeping them up to date, in sync and apply best practices
  • Review pull request from other developers
  • Release your changes into production and track the results

Future Prospects

After your Software Engineering apprenticeship, you can progress into a junior developer role (this includes web and app development). You'll have the skills to continue growing within a tech team, and have enough knowledge/experience to pick up new languages with ease. Software Engineering Level 4 will also provide a good foundation for transitioning into data science.
