Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to operate a production plant and machinery across all production areas. In this busy and varied role, you will work within a dedicated and experienced team to develop your knowledge of the industry and production.

Responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Start-up & shutdown the plant process as per operating procedures
  • You will need to demonstrate the commitment to ensure safe working systems and practices are followed and to ensure personal compliance with all critical operational procedures

You will be responsible for:

  • Effective verbal and written communication between yourself and other members of the team to ensure precise and appropriate information is available as required
  • Make sure all documentation is completed to the highest standard and information is concise and correct for oncoming shifts and management
  • Liaise with all personnel working on site to co-ordinate activities and to ensure these processes are carried out in accordance with safe working practises and as stipulated in the Company's Health and Safety Policy
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained on plant
  • Obtain appropriate and relevant qualification/training that will allow the apprentice to become an efficient in the role

Future Prospects

  • Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a higher-level apprenticeship or full-time employment for the right candidate

Qualities Required

  • You must have the logical ability to solve problems in a timely manner, and the ability to stay calm in difficult situations

  • You must be self-driven and have an enthusiastic approach to work, a desire to succeed and a willingness to learn and listen
  • You will also have a good timekeeping and attendance record and must be able to carry out work in accordance with employer’s health and safety guidelines

Qualifications Required

  • GSCE Level 6-5 (B-C) in mathematics and English GCSE Level 4-5 (grade C equivalent) including Science and ICT and/or Technical subjects

Training Provided

  • You will undertake the Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard which involves day release to study at Kirklees College and on the job training at Syngenta
  • Functional Skills in maths and English if required
  • You will study both on and off the job with the support and guidance of a fully qualified assessor from North Lindsey College
