Starting in September 2020, this role is a crash test technician apprentice working with engineers and customers preparing vehicles and conducting full scale crash tests. For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full-time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.


Starting in September 2020, this role is a Crash Test Technician Apprentice working with Engineers and customers preparing vehicles and conducting full scale crash tests.

Millbrook is one of Europe’s leading locations for the test and development of every type of land vehicle from motorcycles, passenger cars, heavy commercial, military and off-road vehicles.

The role requires mechanical fitting, measurement, fabrication and the fitting of instrumentation. Laboratory based in accordance with customer procedures and legislative requirements on a variety of crash test types.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare vehicles for crash tests by fitting measurement equipment, sensors, data acquisition systems and high-speed cameras
  • Set up crash test vehicles to customer requirements
  • Manufacture frameworks and brackets for data acquisition, high speed cameras and test equipment
  • Installing and setting of crash test dummies to the customer’s requirement
  • Liaise with crash Engineers and crash test customers
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours of Millbrook staff always

Future Prospects

  • Potential for promotion to the role of technician following appropriate and successful training and development and may also progress on to other Engineering roles

Qualifications Required

  • You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4 including English, maths and science, or equivalent, or a technical subject such as engineering
