Job Description

As a Quality Inspector at AWE your role will include inspection of various mechanical and electrical components that are used within a production or trials environment, working to process following written procedures and using your knowledge and experience to interpret requirements directly from drawings.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

As a Quality apprentice you will initially be based within the Skills Academy, where you will develop your basic knowledge and core skills, before progressing on to the onsite aspect of your training. At this point you will start to apply and further develop these core skills in a live working environment. In addition to the vocational aspects of your training, we will further your knowledge of quality through academic studies as you work towards the completion of your professional qualifications.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Qualification: Engineering Technician Level 3 - Technical Support Standard

The first 2 years of training will take place on-site at our skills academy whilst attending a local college on day release.

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
    After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - for all starts from 1st July 2017
