Responsibilities
Through the course of the 3-year Apprenticeship programme and working at Red Dot Europe, you will learn to:
- Use predetermined methods and develop new inspection procedures to evaluate conformance to requirements
- Direct receiving inspection activities participate in quality review boards (QRB)
- Conducts supplier and customer dimensional checks
- You will be the first point of contact for Red Dot Supplier quality issues
- Provide supplier and management interface as required
- Input internal rejects into RDE’s WRO system. Performs internal line failure analysis, patrol inspections and QA Gate checks
- Support production with the WRO process, analysing data and failures
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Through the course of the 3-year Apprenticeship programme you will learn to:
- Be knowledgeable with the policies, procedures and practices within RDE that enable system upkeep to ISO9001 & ISO14001 compiance level
- Be competent with documented engineering systems: drawings, change notes and engineering specifications (ES) measurement tools etc.
- Working towards being fully conversant with industry standards, participating in all production-related stages (PFMEA etc)
- Be able to proactively support in design for manufacture and creation of working documentation from draft stages
- Work closely with all departments ensuring production documentation is effectively maintained in a timely and controlled manner
- Develop process and infrastructure to support ISO requirements and improve company efficiency
- Participate in the inspection, testing and evaluation of all supplier products and services. Exercises independent judgment to accept or reject the product and interpret drawings
- Participates in the disposition of all purchased materials found to be deficient
- Create inspection instructions and visual aids to improve training and support Red Dot’s specifications
- Participate in QRB/MRB/ERB review meetings with Engineering and Purchasing
- Conduct ISIRs for all purchased, fabricated and assembled parts and units at Red Dot Europe
- Assist with improvement activities in manufacturing, PPM improvement programs and other manufacturing-related activities
- Assist with stock checks
- Work with Purchasing and Stores to continuously assess the control of goods in the store's function
- Review incoming goods inspection status
- Perform Receiving inspection duties
- Support RDE’s Corporate Quality System activities to ensure maintenance of ISO 9001 certification and other customer requirement certifications
- Collect and analyse all production-related data to support quality indicators
- Analyse failed parts to identify the root cause and determine liabilities
- Perform final inspections
AS AN APPRENTICE YOU WILL:
- Will undertake a study of Work, Health & Safety and Engineering principles and practices
- Will undertake practical activities in a wide variety of departments and disciplines
- Will develop skills and knowledge of Quality Management Systems

Reality Check
You will need to be able to get yourself to West Suffolk College for day release and study.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Qualifications Required
- Ideally, a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C/4 or above to include Mathematics and English
Training Provided
Engineering Technician Level 3.
