This is a fantastic opportunity for a Purchasing Assistant Apprentice to ensure that items required for production and sales orders arrive to the right quality, when required and at the right price. It will be the Apprentice’s mission to communicate with the Production and Sales Teams in advance and to resolve the issues when any exceptions to this occur. The Purchasing Assistant Apprentice will continually improve the communication and coordination of customer purchases, as well as continuing to build good relationships with internal & external customers. The Purchasing Assistant Apprentice will also learn how to run Requisition Work Sheets.

The Purchasing Assistant Apprentice will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Ensuring accurate due dates on all outstanding purchase orders
  • Ensuring all orders to have been confirmed by supplier
  • Chasing down of suppliers, expediting all overdue orders and updating due dates
  • Daily monitoring of shortage spreadsheet
  • Placing non-stock orders using the most cost-effective means of supply
  • Working within budget to order stationery supplies and IT consumables
  • Putting out subcontract orders and liaising with stores
  • Communicating any issues relating to shortages and quality to purchaser
  • Collecting scrap logs from production and stores
  • Chasing suppliers for paperwork relating to deliveries
  • Running Stock Requisition Worksheet as requested to ensure materials are purchased in due time for production and sales
  • Managing items from new design log
  • Sending out all UK Purchase Orders from Purchaser

Future Prospects

There is the intention for a full-time position to be offered to the suitable and successful candidate upon completion of the apprenticeship; Seldén Mast will support with future training once the apprenticeship has been completed.

  • Polite and professional
  • Organised
  • ICT competent

Qualities Required

  • Proven track record of educuation success
  • Work experience in an office environment or supporting customers

Qualifications Required

  • GCSEs (or equivalents) in maths and English with at least a grade C / 4 are required

Training Provided

Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 15 month apprenticeship which includes 10 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.
