Job Description

The Publishing Assistant is responsible for providing timely, efficient and proactive support to Just Content, as a supplier business to the publishing industry. This includes supporting the needs of the business across operating systems, editorial project work, data management and assisting with client feedback and marketing activities.

Responsibilities

Working on a wide variety of tasks and projects, the Publishing Assistant will be engaged in a number of content workflows and publishing processes, providing support for Just Content, and will develop an end-to-end understanding of the development, production and delivery requirements for print and digital content, as well as the process knowledge of supplying high-quality services for a range of educational content providers.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

General:

  • Provide support and assistance throughout the business
  • Liaise with colleagues on business systems
  • Update systems with key information
  • Communicate clearly and meet schedule deadlines

Business systems: data management

  • Daily data entry and maintenance
  • Spot-check data entry and review data reports weekly
  • Download/upload documents: .
  • Act as the main point of contact for the team

Content Development:

  • Template client-facing documents e.g. market research reports, proposals etc. before client review (Word)
  • Simple author management: reviewing content submission dates, requesting progress updates on delivery timelines
  • Renumber artwork in manuscripts/logs
  • Format content (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Check extents (page lengths and asset quantity)
  • Content mapping e.g. assessing and logging new content versus re-used content

Editorial and Production:

  • Work closely with Project Leads and Editorial Managers to commission suppliers
  • Templating non-typeset content (Word)
  • Artwork: writing and/or editing briefs and logs, downloading images from photo/stock agencies
  • Photo research: writing and/or editing photo briefs and logs
  • Compile media asset logs
  • Check proof corrections before circulation

Rights & Permissions:

  • Request permission to use content from clients in any marketing posts or website features e.g. cover images, section/features/spreads and/or quotes
  • Log assets with third party copyright to be cleared with rights holders

Marketing and client feedback:

  • Monitor and chase marketing copy submissions from the team on set projects, themes etc.
  • Format and proofread marketing content
  • Social Media Marketing: post-marketing content e.g. blogs on social media platforms on a regular basis e.g. LinkedIn
  • Website development: review and update content, features etc. during 2021 upgrade
  • Client feedback: issue client surveys/questionnaires

Level 4 Project Manager.

Skills Required

  • Excellent English language communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, Email (Outlook) and databases
  • Data accuracy, file management and version control
  • Marketing, social media and website experience (Ideal)
  • Database data entry experience (Ideal)

Qualities Required

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions, briefs, and processes
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and on own initiative, with a positive flexible attitude
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and experience of working/learning in a fast-paced environment
  • Confidence with new technology and systems

Qualifications Required

You’ll need to pass a face to face screening interview with our Talent Team (don’t worry, we’re a friendly bunch) and sit initial assessments in maths and English.
