Job Description

We are looking for an inspiring apprentice to provide general support to our students across both of the trust schools (primarily working at Brompton Academy, but must be willing to travel to Chatham grammar for girls) by meeting their social learning needs and assisting staff in delivering the curriculum with a focus on PE.


Supporting the Students:

  • To supervise and support students in Core PE and extra-curricular activities 
  • To work with students both in and out of the classroom, individually or in small groups
  • To support the departments schools ongoing commitment for extra-curricular sporting opportunities for all children
  • To support secondary school games competitions and fixtures

Supporting the Curriculum: 

  • To develop knowledge of literacy, numeracy, and ICT
  • To develop a broad knowledge of additional education needs and how teaching methods can be adapted to meet these needs
  • To develop and adapt resources to support the curriculum
  • To ensure the eeds are met and that sport is accessible to all
  • Support the team and their vision on sport

Supporting the Teacher: 

  • To assist the class teacher and other professionals in the delivery of the curriculum
  • To undertake the additional task e.g. displays, photocopying etc.
  • To contribute to the maintainence of the student's records
  • To provide relevant feedback about the students to the teacher 
  • To run breakfast clubs and after schools sport clubs
  • To prepare the classroom equipment, work, resources and tidy as appropriate
  • To actively support behaviour startegies put in place by the teacher 
  • Support secondary school games
  • Work with admin team and organise trips and fixtures

Supporting the School:

  • To attend the relevant in-service training 
  • To liase and consult with other members of the team
  • To be aware of schools procedures, behaviour, especially those in relation to Health & Safety and Child protection 
  • To maintain confidentiality
  • To maintain links between home and school
  • Actively support the school's behaviour policy 
  • To assist in the organisation and planning of sports events within the school and attend sporting events at other venues with school teams

Qualifications Required

A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-5 (or equivalent) including English & maths.

Training Provided

On the job training whilst working toward the Advanced Teaching Assistant Standard - consulting of the intermediate NVQ Level, technicial cerftificate and functional skills if appropriate. 

Regular work based:

Assessment/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships tutor assessor, to determine competency and meet with awarding body standards.
