Job Description

To provide a high quality, professional reception, customer and administrative service to the People & Culture (formerly HR) team.


Your day to day responsibilities will include;

1. Answering incoming telephone calls, redirected accordingly

2. Responding to general People & Culture queries

3. Responding to general pay and conditions queries

4. Responding to annual leave queries

5. Maintaining relevant service activity databases as required

6. Issuing P&C letters and paperwork as required

7. Processing DBS checks for current staff

8. Processing replacement ID cards for existing staff as required

9. Processing work permit renewals for existing staff as required

10. Staffing data entry as required

11. Maintain electronic staff files for new joiners

12. Ensure continuing, personal and professional development of self

13. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the HR Directorate to ensure delivery of a comprehensive HR service

To support the ongoing development and customer focus of the HR Service the job holder is expected to respond flexibly and positively to changes in work demands. This job description is therefore a guide to the level and range of responsibilities expected and the duties of this post may be amended from time to time to meet changing demands.

Reality Check

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £4.15 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £6.45 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £8.20 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £8.72 for those over 25. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). These rates apply from 1st April 2020 The key dates are to be used as a guide only. Should the right candidate be found, this vacancy may close early.
