Job Description

Working in school and school sport partnerships, our apprentices are enrolled in work and training delivered by our tutors. For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full-time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.


The PE role involves:

  • Working within a school setting and supporting the delivery of physical education and school sport
  • The wider community role involves working within the local PE and school sports network to deliver competition for all the schools within the area
  • You will be extra help during PE lessons and in the classroom where you will assist and lead extra-curricular activities and support Young Ambassadors and Sports Leaders
  • You will find out about the sporting career and teaching paths that are available and the hope would be that this apprenticeship will lead you to your next step on the career ladder
  • Helping with breakfast and lunchtime clubs

Future Prospects

  • The right candidate may be employed permanently at the end of the apprenticeship

Skills Required

  • Ability to keep pupils engaged with a positive attitude
  • Able to give clear and precise instructions
  • Organised and having the capability to set up sessions or lessons to a deadline
  • Knowledge of sport will be beneficial
  • Possess the ability to analyse problems for quick solutions
  • Effective communication skills, important between the apprentice and line manager, as well as apprentice and pupils

Qualities Required

  • A motivated and determined individual with a commitment to the school and the course
  • Consistency, keeping a high standard of work plus work ethic throughout the apprenticeship
  • Perseverance and patience
  • Leadership, maintain control of groups and inspire students
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to be a positive role model for pupils

Qualifications Required

  • 5 GSCEs, or equivalents, (Grade A*-C or 9-4) including English or maths

Training Provided

  • Level 2 Community Activator Coach Standard
  • Supporting the Delivery of PE and School Sport
  • Employment awareness in active leisure and learning
  • Level 2 Functional Skills (where appropriate)
