What will the apprentice be doing?
The role of a paralegal provides key support within a legal team and sits at the core of operations. It’s a really varied job requiring quick thinking, attention to detail and clear communication.
This role will support the UK Procurement Legal team. It’s a really exciting opportunity, as you can expect to review and draft legal documents, carry out research, assist with contract management and implement best practice within the end-to-end strategic Procurement lifecycle.
Day to day, you could be:
- Supporting the development of contracts for specific projects
- Assisting with negotiation of larger scale contracts
- Assisting with the management of our internal contracts database and associated reporting
- Assisting with the preparation of legal training for the Procurement team (and working towards delivering the legal training over time)
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be working towards a CILEx Level 3 Diploma in Providing Legal Services as provided by BPP. This is a highly practical programme designed to develop the essential skills and attributes needed to be a successful paralegal professional. It delivers crucial legal knowledge to help paralegals provide the support a team requires across different areas of legal practice.
This 24-month programme consists of seven modules studied over 21 months and is structured so that one module is studied each term, alongside development of professional practice skills. The final three months are spent completing the End Point Assessment.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
This apprenticeship an ideal first step, whether you wish to pursue a career as a paralegal or as a solicitor because upon completion of your studies, you will have completed the Level 3 Paralegal apprenticeship and achieved a certificate of Higher Education (Law and Legal Practice).
