Our Ashford site, also known as the home of Batchelors’ Cup-a-Soup and Paxo, is recruiting a Packaging Development Degree Apprentice to join our Innovation Team.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

Manage implementation of new packaging specifications/processes 
Support packaging development process including trials, operations briefing, and process compliance.
Investigate and communicate new technology developments that could support delivery of innovation/value improvements.
Develop close working relationships with Technical support functions

Build levels of packaging technical knowledge through hands-on training and use of external training through suppliers etc.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will have the opportunity to study towards a BSc degree in Packaging Technology. This work-based 4-year programme is designed to provide the essential knowledge, skills and experience required to operate effectively and successfully in a packaging role.

You will gain this qualification – a BSc (Hons) Packaging Design and Technology - as you work at Premier Foods, studying via a combination of block release weeks at Sheffield Hallam University with on-the-job work experience.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once qualified, there is potential to become a Packaging Technologist  within our business.

Reality Check

The role will include some travel to other sites (to be agreed) as part of understanding working practices within the company and attending study blocks at Sheffield Hallam University.
