Job Description

Office Assistant opportunity with Driver Hire Peterborough, studying a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship with Peterborough College.


  • Overseeing the recruitment of drivers paperwork,
  • capturing details on the Operational systems,
  • validating driver licenses and point systems (via computer systems),
  • liaising with companies to enquire re their requirements for the following week,
  • liaising with drivers to check their availability,
  • Posting job adverts on internet marketing platforms for recruitment of drivers.
  • Monitoring opposition job advertising
  • Updating of the website re jobs availability
  • Updating and maintaining facebook
  • Sending out mailers using Microsoft excel and word merge applications
  • Compiling timesheets,
  • Sending out invoices,
  • Assisting with payroll,
  • General office duties.
  • After an induction period required to be “on call - telephone duties”.   (every third week)

Future Prospects

As this is a brand new company, there is a lot of opportunity for a) learning and b) progression. Like most companies we will have seasonal months where we are extremely busy and months where we are a lot quieter. During certain months we will have bonus incentives for target achievement which all staff will participate in. Recently met a young 23 year old on our franchise training course, who started working for a Driver Hire franchise when he was 16 years old, and has recently purchased his own Driver Hire franchise company. Thee is another young 26year old who started as an apprentice, and now has shares in the franchise that he joined as an apprentice. (Both very nice exceptional young men who love what they do).

Skills Required

  • Knowledge of Computers / Microsoft would be an advantage
  • Drivers license would be an advantage

Qualities Required

  • Presentable, happy, confident, and outgoing personality.  
  • The job can get stressful at times; therefore, a strong composed personality is required.

Qualifications Required

A good standard of English and maths (C/4)
