Job Description

Light Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship – Intermediate Level Apprenticeship.

Always wanted to be a qualified car mechanic?

There is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to work alongside qualified technicians where you will be trained in all aspects of maintenance and repair of vehicles from routine servicing to electrical fault diagnostics.

A Car Technicians job falls into three categories:

  • Servicing Vehicles – working on manufacturer servicing guidelines to ensure the vehicle is running at optimum performance.
  • Maintenance – replacing parts and components that wear and tear before they fail.
  • Repair – diagnosing the reason for vehicle failure and fixing the problem.

Future Prospects

Following the completion of your Apprenticeship you will become a fully qualified Light Vehicle Technician. There are then a number of opportunities for progression within the Motor Industry including:

  • M.O.T Tester
  • Senior Technician
  • Workshop Manager

Reality Check

The specific hours and days that you will be required to work and attend college will be discussed in more detail at the employer interview and by North London Garages once you have been accepted on to the Apprenticeship programme.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
