A motor vehicle technician is a highly skilled Engineer, during your apprenticeship you will be taught about all aspects of service, repair and maintenance. This will include; engines, chassis, transmission, brakes, suspension and electronics.

Responsibilities

David Bux started Halt Motor Company in 1979 and it is now a well-established family business, with sons James and Charles now running the workshop full-time.  HMC has been specialising in quality used cars since 1984 and all aspects of after-sales, including servicing, repairs and MOTs.  As a professional car care centre, we have the latest equipment, which allows our qualified mechanics to diagnose any problems quickly.

For the right applicant, the company is offering an exciting opportunity. You will shadow qualified technicians at work so that you are able to learn first-hand how to service, maintain and repair vehicles. As you progress through the course and your confidence and experience grows, you will be able to start completing tasks on your own. A vehicle Technicians role falls into three categories;

  • Servicing Vehicles – working on manufacturer servicing guidelines to ensure the vehicle is running at optimum performance
  • Maintenance – replacing parts and components before they fail
  • Repair – diagnosing and repairing problems that cause vehicle failure

Off-the-job training will be provided by North London Garages on a day release basis.
