An exciting opportunity has become available for a Network Engineer to join our organisation via QA's Apprenticeship programme.

Role purpose:

Working as part of a nationwide team, you will provide onsite technical hardware and software support for Civica’s fixed and static ANPR customers throughout the UK.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, support and installation of fixed site cameras, re-deployable equipment and mobile in-vehicle computer systems.
  • Working at height using ladder and cherry picker equipment as required.
  • Undertake and pass regular health and safety training.
  • To keep and maintain appropriate records of hardware and software, and of support requests and actions taken.
  • Liaise with helpdesk technical analysts verbally and over email to react to faults as you are notified of them and provide timely updates of root cause and fix applied, providing technical, hardware and software support for PC’s, Laptops and Tablets.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • A good understanding of Microsoft Windows 7, 8 and 10.
  • A good understanding of PC and server hardware architecture, building, configuring and installation.
  • A good understanding and ability to troubleshoot TCP / IP Networking and WiFi technologies.
  • A good understanding and practical experience of IT security principles, protocols and methodology.
  • Practical experience with data cabling installation and termination
  • Proactive and finds practical and technical solutions to complex problems
  • The ability to work under your own initiative and think on one's feet
  • Able to build strong relationships with customers and UK supply chain to deliver the best solutions to meet individual force’s requirements.

Also, key requirements include:

  • Full clean UK driving license or equivalent. [as travelling will be key to the position]
  • Prepared to travel throughout UK, including overnight stays in hotel accommodation when required.
  • UK citizens – A mandatory requirement to achieve security vetting to SC level.

Entry requirements:

The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:

  • An A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT
  • OR an A-Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
