What you’ll be doing

As a Technician (depending on the role) you’ll be responsible for:

  • Repairing accident damaged vehicles using Thatcham recommended repair methods
  • Using relevant Health and safety measures to get the vehicle back to pre-accident condition in line with Audatex estimates and our own high standards at Direct Line Group Auto Services
  • Removing and fitting mechanical, electrical, and trim components and electronically controlled vehicle mechanical components and systems

Qualifications Required

Firstly, you will have to have or be predicted an A-G (1-9) GCSE (or equivalent) in English and maths, which you will be able to evidence.

Training Provided

Full on-the-job training and support will be provided to enable the successful applicant to undertake the full range of duties required of the role. All apprentices are required to complete and evidence 20% of the job learning whilst on their apprenticeship. 

Each apprentice will be allocated a Thatcham coach to support the employer/apprentice within the workplace, guiding them through the programme. Each apprentice will receive a scheduled workplace visit every 12 weeks to support progress, along with scheduled telephone calls to the apprentice/mentors/employers every 4 weeks to check progress of learning. In addition, the apprentice will also attend block release.

Will also include:

  • Functional Skills in Literacy and Numeracy Level 2
  • End-point Assessment conducted by an external provider.

The end-point assessment is designed to enable apprentices to demonstrate that they are fully conversant in the skills knowledge and behaviours expected of individuals at this level. It is designed to provide assessors with a holistic view of the apprentice, and to allow them to assess to what extent the apprentice meets or exceeds the apprenticeship standard.
