Job Description

Metal finishing operative in an award-winning electroplating & anodising company in Lowestoft. Our customer make parts for spacecraft, jet engines, oil wells, fire-fighting and electric cars. They then apply special coatings on these parts for a variety of purposes such as to make the components harder, increase performance or stop them rusting.

Responsibilities

If you’re the kind of person who has a good eye for detail, enjoys variety in their day-to-day role and wants things to be done right, then we have just the job for you, working in an award-winning electroplating & anodising company based in Lowestoft. The company make parts for spacecraft, jet engines, oil wells, fire-fighting, electric cars and many others. They also apply special coatings on these parts for a variety of purposes such as to make the components harder, increase performance or stop them rusting.

As a metal finishing operator, you will play a critical role in helping our company deliver excellent quality coatings for our customers.

At the end of 6 months we will expect you to be able to do the following with minimal supervision:

  • Read the instructions that come with each customer order
  • Inspect customer parts for damage
  • Apply coatings to customer parts following company standards
  • Keep records of results
  • Package parts up for delivery

Factory or production line experience (including fast food) would be an advantage.

On completion of the apprenticeship there may be the opportunity to join the team as a full member of staff.

The right candidate will be Reliable, have good attention to detail be process driven and can follow procedures.

Qualifications Required

GCSE's, or equivalents, at 3 or D in maths and English.

  • The successful apprentice will be working towards a Level 2 Science Manufacturing Process Operative
  • Training will be delivered by Cogent SSC
  • Functional skills if needed
