Job Description

Manor House Surgery has an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Medical Receptionist. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and confident in providing assistance to the Reception and Management team; receiving, assisting and directing patients.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To offer general assistance to the practice team and promote a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors on the telephone and in person
  • Answering telephone and directing and assisting patients to the appropriate person or service
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to help with the running of the practice
  • Making appointments for patients in appropriate clinics
  • Taking messages from patients, hospitals and other agencies and passing information on accurately and in a timely manner
  • Scanning documents and capturing data and entering data into patient medical records
  • Ordering stocks as directed by nursing team or practice manager
  • Undertaking audits and acting upon those audits to contact patients either by text messaging, email or telephone
  • Monitoring incoming emails and responding appropriately
  • Posting information on practice website and Facebook
  • Providing refreshments for staff and visitors and keeping kitchen area clean and tidy
  • Helping to produce information for electronic and fixed notice boards
  • Keeping reception area clean and tidy

Future Prospects

  • Lots of opportunities within the NHS to progress after apprenticeship either in Reception, Administrative roles or into clinical care

Reality Check

  • Very limited access to the village by bus, off road parking is available nearby. Please take this into account when applying for the opportunity – you will also be required to attend college one day a week
  • It is important to understand that working within a GP Practice means working with confidential information and the successful candidate will need to undertake a DBS Check as part of application process

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE grade 4/C or above in maths and English (or equivalent)

Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Day/Block release to Stephenson College, Coalville
  • Functional skills if necessary
  • On-the-job training
  • Off-the-job training
