Job Description

In its simplest and most explicit form, industrial safety can be a matter of life or death. As a Mechanical Test Apprentice for British Engineering Services, you will be helping to make Britain a safer place for industry, businesses and for people whenever and wherever. We want our Apprentice to observe, learn and understand a wide range of engineering skills and processes – including metallography and machine specimens.


What will the apprentice be doing?

As you progress in the role, you will learn how to:

  • Plan, schedule and deliver weld specimens within tolerances required
    Operate and carry out routine maintenance on various machines, including: milling machines with Haas or Fanuc control, conventional lathes, abrasive wheels, and band saws
  • Carry out detailed reports, with no compromise, ever – ensuring that you always keep records, standards and procedures up to date and ready for audit
  • Ensure that all work adheres to the required UK and international standards
  • Always provide an exceptional level of customer service, whilst representing our brilliant company professionally

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Apprentices will get a Level 2 qualification

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Progression within the NDT or Matellurgy department
