Job Description

Nammo Westcott designs, manufactures and tests a range of chemical thrusters (small rockets) which are used to propel satellites into position either in the Earth’s orbit or for deep-space missions to other planets and is looking for a Mechanical Apprentice in Westcott, Buckinghamshire.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be taken on as a full-time employee of Nammo UK starting September  2020 and will be taken through a complete structured apprenticeship with formal instruction based. 

Our aim is to produce a very highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with expertise in the following:

  • precision turning
  • milling
  • micro drilling using both manual and CNC machinery

The components you will create, will primarily be manufactured in titanium, stainless steel or super alloys, they must be manufactured to an extremely high standard. You will learn how to carefully produce work to the tightest possible tolerances. We will teach you how to overcome extremely demanding engineering challenges and produce the necessary tooling to help you do so.

We are looking for an individual who has GCSE Grades A-C in English, Maths and a science together with the following baseline attributes: hard working, self-motivated, team working attitude, attention to detail, manual and intellectual dexterity.

Qualifications Required

A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) at grade 5 and above including English, Science and maths.

Training Provided

Engineering Technician Level 3

  • In-House Competency Training Plan (Skills)
  • Level 2 Foundation Competencies at College (full time year 1)
  • Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME Skills)
  • Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME Knowledge) at College (1 day per week year 2 & 3)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills (if not exempt)
  • End Point Assessment
