Job Description

A 4 year Manufacturing Management Apprentice Programme which focuses on ensuring you develop all the necessary skills you need to provide you with a secure platform from which to launch your Ibstock career. The successful candidate will complete the Mineral Products Technician Higher Apprenticeship at the University of Derby as part of their role.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

The successful applicant will be a key member of the Operational team at the factory, supporting with compliance to our Quality, Energy and Environmental management systems. During the programme you will be provided with a wealth of learning and development opportunities whilst gaining a Mineral Products Technician Apprenticeship – Level 5. You will be working alongside experienced professionals. You will complete a series of technical modules within various departments and locations across the company. You will also develop the attitudes and behaviours essential to the safe and efficient operation of our factories.

Your duties will include

  • Sampling/ testing, and analysis of all raw materials and finished product
  • Carry out quality, environmental and energy measurements/ checks
  • Collation, processing and analysing key performance data across the manufacturing process
  • Assist in the development of Safe Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments
  • Analysing complaints from our customers

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The University of Derby will deliver the Mineral Products Technician Higher Apprenticeship to the successful candidates. This apprenticeship has a University Diploma in Mineral Products Studies qualification mapped to it. The face-to-face elements of the off the job training is delivered at one of the University’s campuses with the rest of the off the job training delivered by distance learning.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will move into a Production Management role with responsibility for leading, motivating and developing a multi-skilled team to optimise the performance of the factory, thereby exceeding customer expectations.

Reality Check

A full UK driving licence is advantageous, with the flexibility to travel across the country if required.
