Responsibilities
What will the apprentice be doing?
We offer a 4 year Apprenticeship working towards the Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 qualification. You will work alongside our Engineers to ensure that the Caterpillar products within the Electric Power Generation product group are maintained, refurbished and reconditioned to Finning standards.
You will train to become an Electric Power Engineer and be trained by Finning's in-house Caterpillar accredited specialised Apprenticeship Training Team.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
For the duration of the apprenticeship you will develop skills in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting. You will also develop advanced diagnostic skills and repair techniques to include but not limited to:
Undertaking detailed inspections of the generation systems;
Carrying out planned and un-planned maintenance on the generation system components;
Carrying out standard diagnosis tests on the generation system components;
Producing a comprehensive list of parts and materials required.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon completion of the Apprenticeship you will be a fully qualified Level 3 Caterpillar engineer. Our engineers are skilled practical personnel who repair and maintain Caterpillar® equipment. Our qualified service engineers can be workshop or site based and further training and development will be available to you.
