Job Description

York House Meat Products are looking for an Engineering apprentice to work in a fast paced manufacturing facility. For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.


The role will involve:

  • Maintenance of manufacturing plant and equipment
  • Lubrication of assets
  • Fabrication of equipment
  • Welding
  • Assisting other team members/teamwork
  • Electrical fault finding and repairs
  • Supporting during breakdowns
  • Completing planned maintenance tasks using PPM software

Future Prospects

  • To grow within the business, successfully qualify as an engineering apprentice, take on an independent role within the engineering team, focus on continuous improvement i.e. LEAN manufacturing projects, take ownership for small internal engineering projects

Reality Check

  • This is a food manufacturing plant and the shop floor areas are chilled, you are also surrounded by raw meat so the candidates must feel comfortable in working in such an environment

Qualifications Required

  • You will need a minimum of three GCSEs at grades  9-4 ( A*-C ) or Level 1 equivalent, ideally including English, maths and a Science

Training Provided

Engineering Manufacturing Technician Higher Apprenticeship Standard:

  • EAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing
  • EAL Level 2 Award for Foundation Phase Gateway Assessment
  • EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering - Mechatronics Maintenance Technician 
  • Pearsons Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
