Are you completing your training activities in college? Will you have achieved the Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME)? If you want an immediate start as a 2nd year apprentice, then this position at the Longbenton based Ringtons tea factory may be ideal for you.

Responsibilities

The candidate will become part of a small team of technicians and engineers, working directly with the Lead and Shift engineer.

Work will involve:

  • Preventative and reactive maintenance of the plant equipment, projects including new installations and upgrades of existing systems
  • The main goal of the department is to improve the reliability and efficiency of the production equipment so the apprentice will be exposed to several different aspects of lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement methods
  • You will learn how to safely maintain and repair production equipment to a high standard in an industrial environment
  • Understand how building services work and then go on to maintain these systems in a safe manner
  • You will also work with other departments to improve the performance and efficiency of production equipment

This list is not exhaustive but represents the main responsibilities expected of an Apprentice Engineer. In addition to the above, the role holder will be expected to undertake all reasonable tasks requested by management.

Qualities Required

  • The ability to take on board information in a variety of formats and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and team leaders
  • Have a proven interest in the working environment and want an apprenticeship

Qualifications Required

  • The candidate must have at least 4 GCSEs, or equivalent, at grade C/4 or above including maths, English Language and Science and also achieved a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME)
  • Please note that Level 2 adult literacy and Level 2 adult numeracy will not be accepted. This is due to the apprenticeship certificate awarding body’s requirements

Training Provided

  • The successful candidate will work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • The successful candidate will also work towards all knowledge, skills and behaviours required to achieve end point assessment
