What will the apprentice be doing?
To complete a four year apprenticeship in engineering to learn best engineering practises and to learn the sugar refining and/or packing process, and to learn to operate plant within the refining and/or packing area, following all relevant safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification is a Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (MOET) Level 3, a 48 month long qualification.
The training will consist of on-the-job mentor supported training, as well as weekly full day release at IPS College.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
The Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician standard offers the flexibility to train and develop skills in both electrical and mechanical technician roles to enable the apprentices to safely perform maintenance and operational activities.
Apprentices will move on from their apprenticeship to Technician roles in Packing and Refinery maintenance teams.
