Job Description

Adanac Valve Specialities Ltd is an engineering workshop producing industrial pipeline valves. They are looking for a machinist apprentice to join their team to learn and carry out machining tasks along with other general engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

Main duties will include:

· Turning using manual lathes

· Milling using manual turret & bed mills

· Drilling using manual pillar and radial arm drilling machines

· Other General Engineering Tasks

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The learner will be studying the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship standard qualification.
  • An employer approved Level 2 Foundation Competence qualification
  • An employer approved Level 3 Development Competence qualification
  • An employer approved Level 3 Development Technical Knowledge qualification
  • Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking end point assessment
  • Day release to West Suffolk College.
  • Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

It is expected that apprentices may progress to a full-time permanent position in the company with the opportunity to progress into other roles and responsibilities.

Reality Check

The apprentice will learn to use manual machines in a production environment as part of a small team.
