Responsibilities
Leonardo’s two-year Logistics Apprenticeship will provide the successful applicant with a wealth of learning and development opportunities in order to complete your Apprenticeship. Working alongside specialist logistic staff in the Aerospace and Defence Electronics Industry with world-leading specialists and partners, you will increase your skills and capability, developing your academic and practical understanding of a fast-paced logistics function.
Through rotational placements you will gather real work evidence and written logs – covering all aspects of a Logistics function that supports a Manufacturing and Supply Chain organisation within a Defence Electronics company, e.g. Goods Receipt, Goods Despatch, Inventory management, as well as short overview placements in Manufacturing covering: mechanical assembly, electromechanical assembly, master production scheduling and industrial engineering in order to understand how other functions receive kits, stock up finished assemblies and generally interact with the Logistics function.
You will also spend time with a business area, learning the fundamentals & interfaces between Business Function and Manufacturing and the Supply Chain. After each short placement you will return to the Logistics function to continue learning key aspects of the differing Logistics roles and Inventory management such as: Perpetual Inventory counts, stock adjustments, kit preparation, packing and despatch etc.
You’ll experience how we manage the flow of material through our supply chain to our customers both domestic and overseas, complying with complex export legislation across international borders and how we ensure the process is as efficient as possible.

Key Responsibility Areas
The apprenticeship will require you to complete a folder of evidence, demonstrating your development into a well-rounded manufacturing operative through on-the-job training. During this time, you will also be attending college on day release to gain vocational qualifications. You will be expected to keep up to date with college requirements in line with the Apprenticeship standard (Ref: ST0537)
The apprenticeship will also involve supporting and organising charity events, across the company and visiting local schools promoting the company’s apprentice scheme. As you progress through the Apprenticeship you will develop wide ranging interpersonal skills with an emphasis on you organising your own workload to ensure time is utilised effectively, you will learn how to make presentations to wider audiences of differing skills and levels.
There may also be opportunities to travel between the Company’s UK sites to meet with colleagues, customers and suppliers or even help with product demonstrations to customers new and existing across the world.
