Job Description

This is an opportunity to join Trace Design as a Level 4 Apprentice, providing technical support to the engineers and technicians in the delivery of projects, including drainage and flood risk, highways and utilities across various sectors including residential, commercial, regeneration, healthcare and education.


Duties will include:

  • Assisting the established team to deliver effective and professional services for a wide range of projects including roads, pavements, car parks, drainage and earthworks from the planning stage through to construction and adoption
  • Supporting the preparation and maintenance of designs and drawings Utilities and Flood Risk Highways and drainage design using CAD, PDS and Win Des (training available)
  • Liaison with clients, design team consultants and approving authorities
  • Contributing to implementation of office standards
  • Production and management of CAD drawings
  • Assisting engineers with project design and report work
  • Assisting with calculations, contributing to solutions for the design team
  • Communication between client and design team consultants
  • Maintaining project files and drawing records
  • Site/client visits
  • Working independently and as a member of the team Meeting agreed deadlines

Future Prospects

Attending college on a day release basis to gain Level 4 qualification progressing to university to complete an Engineering Degree.

Qualifications Required

  • Level 3 Civil Engineering
  • Maths and English GCSE – grade C/4 (or equivalent)

  • Level 4 HNC in Construction in the Built Environment: Civil Engineering
