Job Description

An Apprentice Teaching Assistant is required to join our team in providing high-quality, creative learning opportunities to developing the whole child. The successful apprentice will be supporting to provide a safe, happy and disciplined learning environment, which enables our children to acquire a wide range of knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

Under the guidance of teachers, the apprentice will be involved in working with children to support the education, personal and social development of pupils and establishing positive relationships to assist in structured learning activities. Duties may include, supporting in learning activities, producing learning resources and assisting in the development of skills that support pupils' learning. The apprentice will assist in pupil supervision and pupil progress and development.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As part of this role the successful candidate will be expected to work towards and complete the apprenticeship standard, Teaching Assistant Level 3. The apprentice will be supported with induction and internal on–the–job training. The successful candidate will also be required to complete functional skills initial assessments in Maths, English and ICT. Maths, English and ICT functional skills must be completed as part of the apprenticeship, if GCSE C/4 has not previously been achieved.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There is no guarantee of a role at the end of this apprenticeship, but support will be given. A Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship can open doors to a fantastic career! You could continue with your studies, undertaking degree level study at university after an Advanced Apprenticeship, including Teaching. You could also decide to study for a number of professional qualifications in your industry in order for you to progress within your career.

Reality Check

This position will also involve working outside supporting Forest School Learning with infants on site so an appreciation of the outdoors is essential! Also, we are a small school with three classes so the successful candidate would have the opportunity to learn in mixed age classes providing a broad and rich learning base for your apprenticeship.
