Job Description

Crow Wood Equestrian are looking for an Equine Groom (non-riding position). To join their yard and work towards their Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship qualification!

Responsibilities

Conveniently located with great motorway access, Crow Wood Equestrian are just off junction 11, Lancashire. They have three American-style barns which stable up to forty-nine horses in quality Monarch loose boxes, offering full and part livery with additional tack and cleaning rooms.

They also boast two arenas – one 22x61 indoor school impressively equipped with the very latest Wax Track surface and one 30x61 outdoor arena with Wax Track surface. These of course are in addition to their original schools – indoor 22x40 again with Wax Track.

Crow Wood are currently recruiting for a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprentice to learn all aspects of a busy yard.

Please note that this is a non-riding position so this would suit someone who has limited or no riding experience but wants to gain valuable knowledge and experience working and caring for horses to a high standard.

General duties to include:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Future Prospects

Possibility of Level 3 Senior Groom Apprenticeship on completion of Level 2 apprenticeship.

Skills Required

  • Some experience in the equine industry would be beneficial

  • Keen and wanting to succeed in the equine industry

Qualifications Required

Must be able to work towards Level 1 in Functional Skills maths and English (if required).
